Alzheimer's End Stage...Death

Unfortunately last night I received a phone call from my daughter that her grandfather had just passed away approximately 2 hours ago. He had Alzheimer's or some sort of Dementia that everyone had been trying to cover up for years.

This was my ex-father-in-law, so I was completely out of the picture so I could not offer and wise wisdom or explanations or help. I heard through my daughter all the difficult situations they were going through and it made my heart sick.

They had just placed him back into a Nursing Home the day before, and they found him in bed where he was sleeping, passed on to his next journey. They are in Minnesota and I am in California. My youngest is here, and never got to know the "real" grandpa. He had already begun to change by the time he knew him.

It is a long, sad process sometimes, and takes the spark out of someone that was there.
I will miss him deeply, he was a hero in my eyes.
